‘It shouldn’t be that money can decide if a person is good enough to receive a higher education or not, but this is often the way’. With the help of a scholarship from the Australian Veterans’ Children Assistance Trust (AVCAT), Ben completed a Bachelor of Psychology. Without our support, he would have had to move home and give up on his dreams. ‘I have been in situations that have challenged me financially and mentally… I only held everything together due to the scholarship that I received’.
AVCAT believes that every child and grandchild of Australian Veterans should have the opportunity to achieve tertiary education.
How to Donate
Donations to AVCAT are pooled together to make an AVCAT scholarship. Every scholarship helps a young person in need reach their potential. To make a one off, or regular, donation to AVCAT using PayPal or your credit card click the Donate button above.
Sponsor a Scholarship
Become the ongoing donor to a scholarship supporting one, or more, tertiary students. Scholarships are four years long as the average amount of time it takes to complete an undergraduate degree is four years. Scholarship recipients receive $4000 per year. To discuss becoming an ongoing donor contact AVCAT on 02 9213 7999 or email at firstname.lastname@example.org.
Speak to your employer about donating to AVCAT through workplace giving. In some cases an employer will match donations given by employees. If AVCAT is not on your workplace’s list of charities let them know you would like to give to AVCAT.
How You Can Help
There are many ways you can help AVCAT make a difference to the lives of our young people. We welcome your participation in a fundraising activity like the City 2 Surf (https://city2surf.com.au/), Melbourne Marathon (http://melbournemarathon.everydayhero.do/) or a community sausage sizzle. If you’d like to discuss your fundraising idea with us give us a call as 02 9213 7999 or email to email@example.com.
Leaving a bequest is a thoughtful and enduring gift. You may like to nominate a specific amount to gift to AVCAT, you may prefer to leave a percentage of your estate, or you might choose a residual bequest. A residual bequest is what remains of your estate after your loved ones have been taken care of. Please contact your solicitor to make or change your will. A bequest can be added as a codicil to an already completed will.
For more information download our Information Sheet or to discuss leaving a bequest to AVCAT please contact AVCAT on 02 9213 7999 or email at firstname.lastname@example.org.
